Ginkgo Forest Winery Fall 2024 New Release Wine Descriptions
2019 Pinot Noir
Expansive aromas of plum, sandalwood, earth, incense and fresh moss. Hints of cedar and nutty spices. Flavors of boysenberries, cranberries, cherries with exotic wood and fresh tobacco. A medium weight body and bright acidity throughout the palate. A tasty rolling of flavors between the fruits and spices on a pleasant finish.
Pairings: Risottos, steelhead, salmon, goat, wild game, ossobuco, roast chicken rabbit and grilled tuna (Ahi)
2018 Sangiovese
Fabulous aromas of ripe red cherries, black cherries, leather, licorice, spices, a hint of tar, clove, dusty earth, cocoa & spices gliding into a complex and bright finish that is both savory and rustic. This is a well-balanced wine.
Pairings: Enjoy this wine with pork, tomatoes in any form
(especially pastas), risottos, grilled veggies, Italian sausages and PIZZA!
2018 Estate Cabernet Franc
A beautiful garnet color with dark pigments from a finely performed extraction. The nose has sweet herbs, tea, mulberry, damp moss and plums. Your tastebuds get to enjoy those sweet herb flavors with plums, mulberry, black currants, roses and cherries. An opulent body with moderate tannins a medium weight and well-balanced acidity. This is a delightful wine that is delivering more grace than a typical Cabernet Franc.
Pairings: Tasty with a rack of lamb, sweetbreads, goose, duck, steaks and especially beef short ribs.
2018 Estate Barbera
Lovely deep garnet/ruby color. First scents are of mulberry, sour cherries, plum and baking spices. In the mouth the flavors of
cherry, plum, cinnamon and vanilla pass by with a flashy acidity joining the medium body weight and moderate tannins. The fruit is well balanced with rich flavors to enjoy. The finish is a long, lingering affair sliding between fruity and savory notes.
Pairings: Grilled meats, poultry, braised lamb or duck, pizza (with sausage on board), pasta with tomato and meat sauces plus sausage with lentils.
2018 Estate Reserve Malbec
A magnificent inky purple color with scents of spicy fresh tobacco, cherries, cocoa and floral notes. Sipping the wine presents dark cherries, vanilla and leather with full, smooth
tannins and acidity. The balance of this wine is charming. It has a medium body, round tannins and a gracefully smooth finish.
Pairings: Any steak! Ribs, roasts, cheeses, risottos, turkey, pork and a juicy burger, too.
